John, flash media will have a hard time competing with blank CD's at 50¢ a piece.

I think the digital audio applications will be harder to win unless ruggedness
is the key selling point. Handheld/mobile audio will be a target market,
but boomboxes and automotive applications are less certain.

Microtech's newest CF card...based on a 1Gb NAND flash architecture...achieves a sustained write speed of up to 3.2 megabytes per second and a sustained read speed of up to 5.4MB per second.

I guess the higher density NAND solves the write speed problem as prior
SanDisk press releases hinted. At 3.2 MB/sec this type of performance
really overshadows the Lexar Media controller speeds.
