H60, smear - NTOP is clearly the market leader. But they are losing money and what barrier to entry to they have against competitors. Previous to XP, they have an installed base of software and name recognition. With XP, the first goes away because every VOIP provider probably has to come up with a new driver. They will probably have a head start but it is unknown. So we are left with the name recognition. That is also a solid start but is it enough to keep the vultures away just as what is happening in the 'old' telco business.
From smear: "It really appears from the cc anyway we are at best real premature." This sums it up.

H60 - so you agree that NTOP will be only one of the providers. MSFT did not say they are adopting NTOP's standard and nobody is claiming that. So I am less confident now in NTOP's ability to become the 800 lb gorilla. CSCO invested in ADIR - but we now surprisingly little about the business so far. Sales? Orders? So if ADIR is the future profit maker for NTOP, we have an interesting pattern. IDT has a 'winner' in NTOP and spins them off, pocketing the money and now is in total limbo with no guidance. (Of course there is that streaming video concept that HJ sees no competitors too - LOL). NTOP's future is less certain now (and after continued use, I am sticking to my statement that quality is noticably less than a POTS call but usable) and they have ADIR to spin off. Probably with the same management style as the previous parents. All to be determined while the stock plumets and profits remain a year out - too long in this business and market.

All in all, I am hoping that I have gains to offset at the end of the year so I can get out of this mess.
