CDMA was used by the russians before that great austrian actress and that piano player figured out how to put neanderthalian flute music into an american patent. (after she had overheard her frmr boyfriend making some weapon deals on torpedoes) Ericsson, bless their soul and cashflow, saved the global 3G party, I'm always ready to salute an akvavit for that. (aquavite, soup of life, fertility) Patent laws are not what maybe discovery channel tries to tell viewers, always that issue of "prior art" and "creativity" as well as "anyone skilled in the art". Not to forget from what date the patent clock starts ticking. (as well who signs the petition, tricky stuff) What I am basically saying about patents, or at least 99.99% of them, is US cavalry, courts and markets, and cross- licensing.
