This author didn't do his homework - TiVO REQUIRES a MONTHLY fee - at least $10/month - to use the TiVO box.

TiVO is NOT just a digital recorder - it is a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE - REQUIRED.



True but it takes a lot of $10 months to equal the difference between $400 and $2600. 220 months if you don't count the time value of money. Maybe forever if you do and are paying credit card interest rates. And you can buy a "lifetime subscription for $249 and pay no fee. Ofcourse you run the risk of either the fee getting raised or if you pay the $249 you run the risk of Tivo going out of business.
