"He is morally conditioned or softened up for their demands. The trick is to condition yourself to tell them all to go to hell, better yet, send them there."

There is an area of study in psychology called "locus of control" (LOC). The research is focused on how internal or external a person's feelings of control are. Persons with a strong sense of internal locus of control are more likely to be successful in their endeavors, to be more adaptable, and capable in general of dealing with the struggles of life.

I understand that I am responsible and in control of my perspectives and behaviors in practical affairs. As I look within I find and recognize a moral slate on which goodness and badness are clearly imprinted. It's there...and, any self aware person can identify it as "self evidence" of the common moral condition of human beings. An external government or god can not go there and doodle about, nor can I.

It must seem confusing to people who see empirical evidence or societal traditions as more powerful than self evidence.

"...send them there. Every body buys their own ticket on that train.
