10:19AM Applied Materials (AMAT) 51.80 +2.23 (+4.5%): -- Update -- Technical -- Runs to 50 day simple ma (52.11) before pausing. Limited pullback thus far with best case short term leaving support at 51 intact during the current consolidation. Next resistance is between 52.24 and 53.58 (June 14 gap).

I'm obviously not a believer in the current up-move. It appears to be based in part on rumors of KLAC earnings meeting estimates and comments that Intel is spending some of their capex budget.

ST trading:

I'm nervously watching NVLS bump up above 56, the top of its post-4/18 range. I wouldn't initiate an AMAT short till it hits 56, but my method is a bit different than yours. I hold a bit longer, and try for bigger % gains on each trade (and do fewer trades). Still kicking myself for not accepting the bid price on my puts, when NVLS hit 48. OTOH, I have frequently got the market maker to split the bid-ask difference with me. One of these days (years, given my stubbornness), I'm going to learn to buy and sell in increments, and not get greedy for that last 10%.
