Sounds like you hung out at all the right places..hmmmm.. I am familiar with the appearance of the underside of the bar stools at Audrey's, and few of those other east side joints. I usually fell out at higher class establishments like the Fiesta Lounge on Barrow. Fun to watch the ladies scramble for Parkhills 100 bills. My first residence in Houma was a pop up camper in Whitneys trailer park, a block from Audreys. Roustabouts generally had simple needs.. Most of my time in the early seventies was spent offshore doing production hook-up, hammer jobs and installing well heads. If it wasn't round I didn't want anything to do with it! Damn independent welders! I have a fischer 1260 and have found several canon balls, caplet buttons, and mystery objects(my favorites, spend hours trying to figure out what they are)!
I did some research at the library on Louisiana battles and found the sites from the old maps. Lafourche crossing and battle of bisland are the two closest locations. Morgan City was previously named Bisland, and the battle occured right where the water project cuts under 90 in Calumet. Those were boom town days in Houma, every other vehicle was an eighteen wheeler loaded with pipe. I chilled out substantially due to survival instincts and old age, and now maintain several computer networks in the area. Have a good one.
