I'm not a tax expert on goodwill. Is there a tax expert out there who can confirm that goodwill is tax deductible under Canadian tax law? If goodwill is tax deductible, how far into the future can a company write-off goodwill (again, for tax purposes)?

Ian, most investors don't understand that the 19 billion loss was NOT really a loss.

If they used some common sense, any grade 1 investor would realize that REAL 19 billion loss would have bankrupted NT LONG LONG time ago......

To look it even more simply, this 19 billion loss is just an accounting entry to reflect the fact that the NT shares have come down a LOT !!! Something everyone already knows by heart.
