I read very little modern writing

I read a great deal of modern writing, particularly women's works. In fact, I love Trollope- Joanna, that is (who does happen to be related to Anthony, but by her own definition is merely "good" where he was 'great"). I find women's writing exuberant- as if they are just learning how to write about themselves and their lives without seeing them filtered through a male POV. It's not always great literature but as a female who came of age during the transition, it's interesting to me to see it evolve.
(This does not include Danielle Steele crap- which is garbage, of course and isn't a true "voice")

I cracked up when I read your sentence "Would you believe I haven't read Dante since college?" I was wondering if I took a poll in the checkout line at Tom Thumb today, how many people had read him ever. And if they had, wanted to revisit him.

(I readily admit to being a lightweight reader and am not representing my tastes as having any intellectual value at all)
