And you are making sense, and I'm even less sure I like that. <bg>

I am quite ignorant of modern writing, and I certainly feel the deficiency in
my knowledge as I read through SI posts.


I, OTOH, don't feel the least bit deficient. Any more so that I feel when people show themselves more knowledgable than I on, oh, the arcana of professional wrestling holds or the sex life of the komono dragon.

One can only wonder
how dazzling Trollope could have become were his father not involved in such a puerile profession. ;)


But he was a failure at the law. Actually, though, Trollope did pick up quite a good sense of legal concepts in his work. What I can't figure out is where he got the insight into high politics -- his post wasn't that elevated. OTOH, where did Shakespeare get all HIS knowledge of court from? Great writers tend, I find, to be packrats of knowledge.
