no, it was a global mania...and i think the fact that Germany's Neuer Markt has fallen to new all time lows is a very ominous development w.r.t. the Nasdaq...i think it will follow suit, as it has done throughout the bear market.

...Investors also are calling for a purge of Neuer Markt-listed companies. Twenty of the 343 listed firms are trading as "penny stocks" below the 1 euro threshold and being exchanged almost exclusively among gambling daytraders. Unlike the Nasdaq, they can't be delisted for their performance. Traders increasingly see this as an image problem and are calling for new rules to throw them out of the exchange....

Why stop there? Whenever a stock fails to double in any six month period, it should not only be delisted, but its entire board of directors and management roster should be hung from the nearest lamppost. That'll teach those investors to do their due diligence. -g-
