1xRTT cdma2000

I just clipped an overview of the status of 1xRTT implementation in Korea researched by Mike Woolfrey of EMC Cellular:

Message 16041249;

Great article, Eric.

Things that caught my attention:

1. Color handsets are expected to give the surge in 1x a kick in the pants.

2. There is a difference between initiating the rollout of a network, and completing the rollout. Based on the article, time to completion from start looks to be about a year, or a little less. We should keep this in mind when we hear that Sprint/Verizon are (beginning) rolling out their 1x networks.

3. Approximately 2-3 million 1x subscribers are expected by end of 2001 in Korea, which is thought to have about 26 million CDMA users. Looks like plenty of room for growth, and the first example of Cha2's wireless data tornado by region or country.
