Correction: Merced taped out on 0.18u. Maybe Merced was originally planned for 0.25u, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure by the time the darn thing taped out, it was on 0.18u.

A better comparison would be McKinley. That was taped out at 0.18u, and it will also enter pilot production and real production in the same process. But McKinley will have a short life span, if you don't count the pilot stage, because the 0.13u Madison will enter production soon after McKinley.

Funny thing is that at least McKinley will have some life ahead of it in pilot production. Even Hammer won't have that benefit.
