I'm glad Begala wrote that column. He finally expressed the beliefs that many of us here in flyover country already know people like him hold. It seems they fear the "great unwashed" because we don't buy into their line of bunk. One reason his column is memorable is because he was an advisor to the president, he wasn't just a columnist.

I don't consider myself a part of the Moral Majority or the Christian Coalition, or whatever they're calling themselves now, but I understand why they feel as they do. Many of them see an intrusive state interfering with their freedom of speech and freedom of association. Why shouldn't students at a high school football game be able to say a prayer before gametime? It had been a tradition for decades. Why can't a bible club meet after school? There are plenty of feelings of victimhood to go around.
