"Why do you think intel is trying so hard to stop amd? I would guess that the price war cost intel more than the total value of amd. Intel does not want a real competitor to emerge."

Comparative q2 results should provide some valuable insight as to the level of success of INTC's current strategy...Unless things at INTC turn around relative to AMD over the next 6 months, INTC's cash burn rate may lead INTC to the cash infirmary by the end of the year!

Albert, <I do believe that the expansion is more important for amd at this stage. ... I would guess that the price war cost intel more than the total value of amd. Intel does not want a real competitor to emerge.>

So when AMD drops prices to increase or maintain market share, it's merely an investment, a vital part of their expansion plans. But when Intel drops prices to increase or maintain market share, it's a blatant attempt to start a price war and eliminate competition.

I see.
