they should work out a better way and throw their egos aside

Mighty, the time to throw away the egos has unfortunately passed. The time to have done it was in 1997, maybe early '98, when the idiotic WCDMA fandango started, and some ignorant, stupid, and terribly selfish morons decided that wideband was better and that, wink, wink, we can do the same to WCDMA as we did with GSM and, oh, by the way, we won't have to pay that arrogant upstart from San Diego any royalties if we go WCDMA. Hey, we'll go to Court if the little squirt fights, that'll show it, by Thor.

This group of ego-inflated idiots is directly responsible for the state of 3G in Europe and for the ludicrous cost of spectrum. Because of its influence and size, it will have a substantial impact on future events.

These idiots will be about 18 months delayed on GPRS, and Gawd only knows how many years delayed with UMTS or 3GSM or whatever new name for WCDMA this bureaucratic band of bozos dreams up.

If they had been rational, and thrown away their egos then, we'd all be in better shape.

They've made a friggin' mess out of it, and it looks like they're too set on their path to change. Or perhaps it's too late to admit a mistake and do anything worthwhile about it. There would be hell to pay if I were a substantial shareholder or a member of the Bd. Of Directors of any of these companies, and we all know who they are.

It didn't have to be that way.
