They have changed their tax bracket twice in the last year which made a difference to the eps line. They sold off a division also. Second, look at revenue, it was lower than expectations. 850 vs. 857 estimate. Third, HD general merchandise, i.e. clothes, collectibles, is down 8.1% from year before. Why? One study revealed that HD is no longer kewl, hip, the in thing. Will this trickle up to bikes? I personally believe that HD is losing the coolness image. HD image used to be tough leather clad guys with tattoos. Now it's yuppy lawyer/doctor weekend warriors who don't know how to ride who want to feel like tough guys. Which image is worse if you wanna be cool? Here is HD's new bike. HD dealer show is currently on in LA. I may try to check it out on Friday. motorcyclenews.com This bike is a 180 degree change from their current line up of HD cruisers and HD Buell sport bikes. Some will hate it, some will love it, but will people buy it? We shall see. If they roll them out as poorly as they did the twin cam and buell, they won't be buying it. It also costs $14K pounds or $22k, more expensive than any other similar bike out there. Honda vtx is $12K for comparison. Honda has a bigger engine, is faster and looks better to me. I think hdi is a great company with good products and wonderful history. I think it's a little overvalued and the economy is still not doing that great. The buffer created by the long waiting lists is getting smaller every day. Will the price dip? Perhaps a little. HDI is just soooo strong, the investors such in love longs and compared to other stocks out there, HDI looks safe and great. HDI price should go down a bit but it won't. It is stubborn. I have a HD, just FTR.
