Bombardier Receives a $52-Million Order for the Supply of
Airport People Movers for Atlanta, USA

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--JULY 17, 2001 - 10:53 EDT
Bombardier Transportation was awarded a contract
by the City of Atlanta, Department of Aviation, for the supply of
24 CX-100 automated airport people movers and associated equipment
for the Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. The value of
the contract is approximately Cdn$52 million (US$34 million).

Bombardier Transportation's facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
will be responsible for the production, system integration and
testing of the CX-100 cars. This order, scheduled for delivery of
the first vehicle in August 2001 and the last vehicle in December
of 2001, will replace an aging fleet of C-100 cars.

This recent contract confirms the success of the airport's
automated people mover system that has been operating successfully
since 1980. The original 17-car fleet serviced 12 stations. With
six expansions since 1983, the fully automated system now operates
with a fleet of 49 vehicles and serves 14 stations.

The Atlanta installation is one of the busiest and most complex
systems of its kind in the world, operating 20 hours daily and
moving an average of 192,000 passengers each day. Connecting the
landside terminal to five airside concourses, the completely
underground system has been operated and maintained by Bombardier
Transportation since its opening and has consistently achieved an
operating availability of over 99 per cent.

"This is an exciting order for us on many levels," commented
William Spurr, President of Total Transit Systems. "While it
allows us to continue to build on a long-standing, positive
relationship with the Atlanta customer, it also demonstrates the
wide scope of automated technology in the new Bombardier
Transportation."

Bombardier has designed and installed 30 people mover systems for
airport and urban applications around the world, including Changi
International Airport, Singapore; Frankfurt's International
Airport, Germany; Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, Rome,
Italy; and the Miami Metromover in Florida, USA. The C-100
vehicle series is currently being delivered to San Francisco's
International Airport, USA, and Barajas Airport, Madrid, Spain,
for a total of 305 C-100's manufactured since its introduction to
the market in 1980.
