We are no where close to a welfare state You are foolish. One out every five employees in this country works for a government which provides little in the way of meaningful service. THAT's the real welfare state. SS, Medicare, and state Medicaids are taking money away from those who work and giving it to those who don't. Really, little service...getting your garbage collected, providing utilities, repairing roads, policing the streets, etc. Trying living without those services and you will see how little they are. The problem with you is that you're spoiled and autocratic, and you will not be happy until the world is set up according to your specs. Make no mistake, it IS a welfare state. Given the quality of your info, you probably believe that. ted
