There was no "one time" gain. They reported investment gains every quarter. As for what the upcoming report looks like, let's wait until we see it.

There is a separate line item for the gains as well. Scroll down to the table in the link I provided earlier. You will see operating income and investment income listed on separate lines:

By the way, did you notice their preannouncement reported their expected earnings per share including the effect of the loss?

"Including the non-cash charge, diluted earnings per share is expected to be approximately $0.01."

The more I look at their press releases, the less I find to fault them on. And believe me, I am no Microsoft lover.
