the BAD: If current conditions prevail, the company expects that overall revenues could decline in the range of 10 to 15 percent in the current quarter. With a decline in sales of this magnitude, the company would report an operatingloss.

Normal seasonality coupled with a recovery in some of the markets for flash memory products should enable the company to increase revenues and return to solid profitability in the fourth quarter.

the GOOD: Over 7.7M processors (vs. 7.3 in Q1) - this validates the Mercury Research data saying market share grew over 1%.

AMD is not counting on a Q3 recovery -- this is realistic, IMO. It kind of implies that the end of Q2 and early Q3 are worse than early Q2. (If current conditions prevail...)

The CC should be interesting.

I guess this is what everyone was anticipating when the stock got hit so hard last Thursday AH and Friday. Hopefully, the possibility of a loss already factored into current price. Waiting to see if notebook and MP guidance can give clue where ASP can get possible boost.

<Nostalgia>Don't we all remember late 1999 when Jerry said they might break even (where loss was expected)? The stock took off big time.</Nostalgia>

Will listen to CC this evening. Good luck everybody.

Andreas,

Re: "Average selling prices (ASPs) for PC processors declined sharply
from the first quarter in the face of very aggressive pricing in a weak
PC market."

Is Jerry doing his job well ?? From my point of view ... He's perfect !! <ggg>

Make It So,

"We're not going to be pushed out of the ring by a sumo wrestler," he said

Looks like Intel has progressed from being a wrestling pig to a SUMO wrestler - all in one quarter !!

Quite a step up for Intel - eh?
