There is no argument that defense spending is (largely) a waste. Part of the reason the US economy took off in the '90s is that the Cold War ended in the '80s. It would be nice if no one spent money on armies, navies, air forces, missiles, war satellites, etc. What's that got to do with reality? Are the Chinese and Russians and ..... going to completely disarm if we do? Or will they smile with glee as they prepare to take advantage of our stupidity.
