F.Simons, do you think there is another choice available to AMD? If so what is it? That they should have been happy with 17% market share and always be close to extermination only being held back by Intel not wanting to get in trouble with anti-trust laws? If AMD gets 25-30% or more of the unit shipments then AMD will be enough of a factor that they will get good infrastructure support, and enjoy the economy's of scale to be a solid competitor to Intel even though Intel will still be the biggest player. If AMD kept its ASPs high (or higher they never really had high ASPs and I doubt they could increase them much in this market even if they didn't care about losing a bit of market share) went back to the mid teens in market share they would probably make less money now, and they would definitely be setting themselves up for failure in the future.
