but you may use it if you like Thanks, I'll take you up on that, as I have before. I have been speculating that the answer might lie in the relative value society assigns to the various data tools. We seem to value observation and reason more highly than feelings, sensations, faith, etc. There might be a natural tendency, in an argument, to want to use the most highly regarded tool regardless of whether that tool was appropriate for the subject at issue. I think that reason, while generally the most highly regarded tool, is just the wrong tool in the case of religious belief. Using the most highly regarded tool doesn't win the argument if the tool is inappropriate. The tool that is most appropriate for the subject, although having a lesser reputation, in general, will be more effective in particular types of arguments. Karen
