An interesting view. The current decision to host the 2008 Olympics will also help entrench the current leadership too. There are some good sides to them, but the human rights issues may prevent a quick change over to an ideal economy. I'm thinking of the numerous death sentences and the human organ donations etc.

Not that our respective countries are squeeky clean of human rights issues of course. I think the Chinese authorities have some way to go before they get the real upper hand. If they do better then us on the human rights issues score, it's time for our political leaders to worry.
