Where does hydrogen come from?

To power automobiles, the hydrogen must be transported and stored safely. This is a major obstacle.

Current fuel cells use a petroleum based hydrogen supply.

But the petroleum used to power fuel cells can be consumed with much lower emissions than we produce by pushing pistons with combustion gasses.
