I have always supported Neocon as president. And if he decides to run, I pledge my life to that effort. That and 3.95 will get him a frappachhino. But I pledge it anyway.

our tax code is a rule made by those people you claim are accountable to the populance. I guess you like living under it.

I actually don't mind it at all. Foreign-earned income exemption. Words equal in beauty to those of the poet most sublime.

The idea of a philosopher king is nice, but it would be difficult to make it work in practice. Who chooses the king, and who decides what philosophy is to rule? Besides, a review of the practical lives of the great philosophers suggests that many would be less than fit for kingship.

The problem with the US political system, of course, is that it has been too successful. Most people are so content (though you'd never know it from an SI sample) that they don't bother to pay attention. When this happens, naturally the corrupt and the power-hungry will take the opportunity to ooze in. They will botch things up, and when they are sufficiently botched that people are no longer content, maybe we will see change.

We'll see.
