If that's true, the best scenerio is to have a civil war for each nation,

Give me a break.. This attitude on your part is tacit admission on your part of the deficient logic of your argument.

The bottom line is that democracy works because it requires a consensus of the population, not just the "unchosen few" who have appointed themselves the national leadership.

We saw how Bejing was attempting to stir up nationalistic extremism when they detained that Navy crew (without access to the US consul). We've seen how they will kidnap US citizens and nationals on the flimsiest of charges. And we've seen how they will use their navy to stake a claim on someone else's territory (the Spratly's) and try and assume control of the S. China Sea, a major shipping route.

But China's on one of two likely paths here.. eventual internal civil strife between disparate economic interests, or regional aggression and nationalist extremism.

This could be abated to a certain extent by opening up the political system to the people, whom the government is supposed to represent and accountable to in the first place. And it seems you're frightened by the prospect of democracy in China Q... I don't quite know why since a democratic state would be less inclined to justify any hostility from another democracy like the US. It would take considerable wind from our "sails" were China not only a thriving economy, but also a thriving democracy with the same value of individual rights and freedoms that we cherish.

Maybe you're hoping to become one of the "unchosen few" someday.
