AT&T is about to begin their GSM/GPRS roll-out. The first area is Seattle.

The rate plans are pretty interesting. The top rate plan allows a price of $2.50 a Megabyte. This makes me wonder a little bit about the oft-cited Qualcomm slide that shows the underlying economics for the various air interfaces.

EDIT....found the slide. Realize that Qualcomm estimated 42 cents a MB. Still looks valid.

I assume that the initial implementation of this service will only involve GPRS cards and not handsets....

Nokia 2Q 2001 Conference Call webcast
nokia.com
July 19, 2001, Nokia's 2Q Earnings Release Conference Call and Webcast at 15:00 Helsinki
time, 13:00 London time and 08:00 New York time.
Link to Conference call webcast nokia.com
>> not sure what time the call will be broadcast live. <<
Now you know.

My WAG based on todays QCOM/NOK price action is that Nokia will say everything is hunky-dory with GSM/GPRS going forward but that W-CDMA will be delayed.
