Windows Me also had trouble being accepted in the market, but in terms of sales, it sells better than Windows 98 SE today.

You are right, that Windows 98 SE is here to stay for many, many years. But the chances for it to be placed on a fair share of new computers is small. Most people will probably buy a Windows XP preinstalled PC, and then install Windows 98 SE only if their hardware drivers don't work.

I hope your skepticism regarding Windows XP is widely held since that will set the stage for significant MSFT upside surprises over the next year as XP proves to be the most widely accepted Windows version ever.
