As somebody in the business who deals with OEMs, VARs, and enduser's, I assure you that the vast majority of resellers out there aren't prepared to sell FC.

Then consider that 35% of Brocade's last quarter revenues came from the channel, up sequentially from 25% of rev. And that's not counting CPQ's 70% reseller SAN sales. The linchpin of Brocade's lockout in this market segment is their vendor and end user education programs.

David, did you take advantage of their free certification testing at the Brocade Festival? If you have taken any of the courses, how would you rate them for real-world application? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think this type of marketing/education of vendor specific solutions is what KJ might have been referring to as "cookie cutter" SANs (not available at your local Frys).

David,

You missed my point. I said for shops with 5 to 15 nodes, two to three switches. You don't need to hire a specialist who demands 6 figures as you said. You also don't need these fancy analyzers either. With minimal training, small configurations are easy to set up with built-in backup (i.e. dual connections for nodes due to needs). File backup is a different story. Regardless if the system is on FC or SCSI, file backup would just operate differently. For FC, operation personnel would have to learn new tricks . Requirements are the same.
