Dan3:

Over the past 2 years, AMD has increasingly encroached on INTC's sacred domains...First it was high end consumer desktops, followed by an improved and superior lineup across the entire consumer MHz spectrum...More recently, it has been in the mobile and server spaces and soon to be workstation space...The point being made is that, just as a boa slowly squeezes its prey, so too is AMD squeezing INTC...Looking forward, INTC's defence is premised solely upon what appears to be a lame P4, and as such, it would seem the boa is going to continue to squeeze...

Should this rapid technological ascent by AMD continue to be the trend going forward, which would seem to be evidenced by the AMD patenet activity, it makes every bit of sense for AMD to agrressively pursue the 30% market share objective even at the short term sacrifice to profitability. Assuming success, a 30% market share will provide a fabulous "seedbed" for its SOI products when they roll off the line in a year or two, leaving INTC writhing frenetically, as the boa applies yet another squeeze...

All indicators suggest to me that INTC is currently playing catch up to AMD's technology advances and judging by INTC's best response, the seemingly lame P4, it's not going to get any easier for INTC to keep pace!

Re: "Nor did I list AMD's AthlonMP or Mobile chips. But I see that, typically, you presented one side of the picture and not the other."

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID - BUT IT WAS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE FOR YOU TO DO THAT - EH?

We all know what you are !!
