Intel (INTC) 29.90 +0.77: -- Update -- On call, mgmt said they expect market share growth in the second half of the year....stock at 29.30.

Intel (INTC) 29.90 +0.77: -- Update -- On conference call, company saying that architecture business will be improved in the second half of the year as mgmt expects business to return normal seasonal patterns. The timing of the rebound in the communication/flash business is less clear....stock at 29.30.

CyberSource (CYBS) 1.16 -0.05: Reports Q2 loss of $0.26 a share, in line with the First Call consensus of ($0.26); revenues rose 9.4% to $7.75 mln from a year-ago of $7.09 mln.

RealNetworks (RNWK) 10.78 +0.27: -- Update -- Announces company's CFO will resign.

Apple Computer (AAPL) 25.10 +1.14: -- Update -- Maintains previous guidance that it expects retail business to be breakeven in Q4 and slightly profitable in next fiscal year; says there is no material change to capex estimates provided in May for retail business... separately, says it believes gross margins should return to 27-28% range beyond Q4... call just concluded... AAPL -2.45

Intel (INTC) 29.90 +0.77: -- Update -- Company maintains cap-ex budget of $7.5 bln for this year which is good news for chip equipment companies....stock at 29.26.

Vina Tech (VINA) 1.26 -0.02: Reports Q2 loss of $0.17 a share, $0.03 better than the First Call consensus of ($0.20); revenues rose 75.1% to $12.03 mln from a year-ago of $6.87 mln.

QLogic (QLGC) 52.22 +3.63: Announces the company's CFO will retire in 2002.

Paradyne (PDYN) 1.17 +0.04: Reports Q2 loss of $0.08 a share, $0.20 better than the First Call consensus of ($0.28), vs year-ago earnings of $0.05; revenues fell 62.7% to $28.22 mln from a year-ago of $75.60 mln; separately, the company announces it has secured a $17.5 mln line of credit.

Veritas Software (VRTS) 50.42 +3.26: In Q&A period, management notes that could get back to 35%-50% growth during periods of more normal economic growth... Would suggest no fundamental shift in business opportunities, if forecast is accurate.

inSilicon (INSN) 3.68 +0.39: Reports Q3 loss of $0.05 a share, $0.02 better than the First Call consensus of ($0.07), vs year-ago earnings of $0.06; revenues fell 11.6% to $6.02 mln from a year-ago of $6.81 mln.

Veritas Software (VRTS) 50.42 +3.26: Other nuggets from conference call... As reported earlier, company puts full year '01 EPS at $0.73 to $0.74, well below consensus forecast of $0.84... Also note that number is well below even the lowest estimate of $0.78... Consequently, look for a rash of ratings and estimate downgrades tomorrow... VRTS also noted that services revenues expected to grow as a percentage of overall revenues over next couple of quarters... Growth in sevices will weigh on gross margins slightly... Average deal size was $130,000... DSO = 43 days... Sees continued strength in Asia... Competitive wins v. Computer Associates (CA) and Legato (LGTO)... Cash of $1.5 bln.
