Joe, Re: I have yet to see Intel publish any real data.

Otellini said that unit shipments were up 6% and that that amounted to more than 1 million units. So we'll get:

Q1 units Q2 units increase (always 6.0%)

16.66M 17.66M 1.0M
20.00M 21.20M 1.2M
23.33M 24.73M 1.4M
25.00M 26.50M 1.5M
26.66M 28.26M 1.6M

If AMD had a market share of 22.2% in Q2 with 7.7M units shipped, overall units must have been 34.7M. That means there were 27M left for Intel. But that doesn't compute with Intel's numbers (see above). If they shipped 27.0M this quarter, they must have shipped around 25.0M units last quarter according to Otellini. With AMD having shipped 7.3M units then, AMD's market share would have been 22.6% then which is too high.

So, who is lying here?

Andreas
