That's because they want their own version of the JAVA language to become the new standard. Called C# I think. Just another example of how MSFT is illegally pushing to control every market possible for total monopoly.

Personally, I like their EXCEL, WORD, and Powerpoint programs but that's about it. I hate their Explorer browser with a passion and refuse to use it.

Under an agreement, Microsoft agreed to no longer license from Sun any current or new versions of Java, but it would have been allowed to distribute products carrying outdated versions of the Java technology for seven years

Windows XP users will be able to easily download Java off a Microsoft update site if they come across a software application running on Java.

If anything, hopefully IE is going to be a better app to surf the web with.
