I do not dwell morbidly on such matters. I consider taxation a legitimate function of government, and express dissatisfaction with the rates through the electoral process. I consider automobile licensure to be legitimate, and a modest inconvenience, hardly worth noticing. I agree that some of the zero tolerance policies are absurd, but that is not a primary concern for me. I think that gun registration is reasonable. And I do not think that drugs should be legalized, although I object to certain drug war policies, like confiscation of loosely related assets. In any event, I know plenty of people who get away with all sorts of infractions, like using drugs, because we do not live in a police state........
