"j-f, The percents presented by you 96 and the 280 may both be true. "

Snitch, did you ever blow this one...As far as I can see you are only correct on one fact, that is, the US has a GDP 5x greater than Germany.

Then you said,"I know that the US has the least CO2 per unit of GDP anywhere in the world. "

How do you know this? Where's your link? You're dead wrong here....Germany produces about 124 metric tons of CO2/ million $ of GDP while the USA produces about 164 metric tons of CO2/ million $ of GDP, ie they are 24% more energy efficient than we are. Without doing the calculation I would surmise that other countries are more efficient also.

You also said, "Germany I believe has no nuke plants. If they have any they produce less than 20% of the energy. "

Wrong again.....Germany produces 29% of its power from nukes. We produce 18/6%. You can verify these data for Germany at:

odci.gov

Just click on the USA for the same data on us.

re:"Now the new york times requires account access. So if you only post a link, all cannot follow "

I've never had anyone say they couldn't open a Times link...I just checked with someone and all you have to do is a simple registration....it's free. Even an electrical enginear or lawyer can do it....
