Scott,

I have read both responses and I think the answer may be somewhere in between the 2 points of view. (How's that for taking a wishy-washy position?<gg>)

The semi-equip group of 30 bottomed hard last 11/30/2000 at a value of 541. Since then the group has come back and as of Fridays close stands at 717, an increase of 33 percent. It was as high as 859 on the week closing 6/8/01, a gain of 59 percent. Since 12/29/00 (a period of nearly 7 months), the group value has been bouncing around in the 600 to 800 range - going nowhere. The question is - how much longer is this going to go on?

There seems to be powerful forces at work on both sides of the issue. These forces have been repeated over and over on the SI threads. Until some catalyst comes along to shake up the situation, the group may stay in the last 7 month trading range for many more months. Isn't that a happy thought?<gg>
