Of course, that market share belong to Intel by constitutional right...

Of course Intel has no "right" to that market share, but neither does AMD. They both must compete for it and Intel is in a far better position to compete than AMD.

When will Intel start to write-off there numerous old fab .25 plus?

Those fabs are still active. The only fab Intel has shut down in recent memory is Fab6 in Chandler Az, a tiny ancient fab.

PS: It take 2 opponents to make a war, not only one.

When AMD started the price war by undercutting Intel's prices, Intel had no choice but to fight back. What do you call a war when only one side (AMD)attacks? You guys wanted competition, so compete!

You think so. Now... Why WS was not concerned by INTC lower earning? 3¢ for a $30 share...

They ARE concerned with Intel....has the Intel stock gone any where since Jan.? However,in price war, WS has decided that AMD will be the loser. That's why right now AMD's stock is hurting and Intel's is not. Earlier this year when AMD was taking market share and it seemed that Intel did not know how to counter, Intel's stock went no where while AMD's gained ground. Surprisingly, WS eventually gets it right.

AMD does have a choice...stop the price war. Let Intel get back some of its market share. Sometimes it's a time to fight; other times it's a time to chill.

Of course, that market share belong to Intel by constitutional right...

I didn't say it belonged to Intel..I said stop the price war and if that means Intel gets some market share back, so be it. There is a time to make war and a time to make peace....AMD is not in the power position right now...so they should be pushing for peace.

Intel has more cash resources than AMD. Last time I checked their cash reserves were well over $15 billion.

Have you ever see a co. like NT having $19B lost in one quarter. When will Intel start to write-off there numerous old fab .25 plus?

Intel is not NT, its Intel. NT has not been a money maker for at least the past ten years. In the meantime, Intel has coined $$$. Its best to know the nature of your enemy and know the extent of their assets before declaring war.

AMD did better when its market share was smaller and its ASPs higher

Ho ya, ... when? 3 year ago? 5 years strait losing money?

Last year, it made $$$ every quarter...first time in years...its market share was around 17% for most of the year. During the 5 years straight they lost $$$, Sanders was doing the same thing he is doing now...walking around like he has big cajones. That works only if they are truly big.....

Once again its a critical time in AMD's history.

You think it's not critical time for Intel?

Two different companies with two very different sets of problems through which to work. The only reason we talk about Intel at all is that the pc chip happens to be one of their products. Its fun to bash them but in the final analysis its meaningless. When AMD grows up...assuming it ever gets to adulthood....its not likely it will be an Intel 2.

PS: It take 2 opponents to make a war, not only one.

Huh? What was my first clue?

The 800 lb. gorilla finally got around to coming up with a faster processor [at least on paper] and has decided to swat the knat, called AMD, a couple of times......probably more to get back at Jerry's taunting than to take back market share.

After gaining back a couple of market share points, I suspect it will lose interest fairly quickly. Intel, more than Jerry, is concerned with making money and will not allow a price war to go on indefinitely.
