Marijuana is fairly innocuous, plus it's a weed that grows in all 50 states. Very difficult for the state to regulate without setting up a massive internal security apparatus. Cocaine and heroin are not innocuous and have to be imported. If marijuana was legal, we could keep surveillance confined to the border, where it belongs. The drug war is the last gasp of that moralist crusading strain of thought that gave us Prohibition and women's suffrage. It's time to stop the insanity.
