The fact that you would mention Mengele in any discussion tells me you are only trying to sensationalize this issue. Mengele has as much to do with science as Bush has to do with intelligence.

Researchers at the U of Mn. Had an interesting ethical dilemma. A few years ago researchers were studying the effects of hypothermia on people. They were aware of a wealth of data on the subject from experiments conducted 50 years ago. Nazi Drs. put prisoners into ice baths and meticulously recorded physiologic variables up until the victim died. So what do you do with this data? Is it invalid because of the monstrous way it was collected? Destroy it out of respect for the victims? Or by using it for clues on how to treat victims of hypothermia (lots of people die from it every year) do you make their deaths a tiny bit less senseless? What would you do with it?
