We have to wait until the details are out. For all we know AOL's "equity stake" is $100 million of senior debt.

It certainly would be very much in AMZN's spin machine style to announce a debt offering as an "equity stake". Just like the $500 million in cash payments that turned out to be payments in inflated stock worth little.

That gives Amazon no cash. Amazon could not have made the year without the $100 million. This was the only way. The bonds did not matter.
