Ten - What was really neat was my first i815E system. When assembled, EVERY SLOT was empty - and it was a fully functional PC - graphics, sound, LAN, etc.

Talk about a low parts-count system !

Re: I would not trust a VIA chipset (or ALI or SIS) in any value system that I build.

I wouldn't trust an Intel chipset in any system that I build. We've had trouble with very few of our servers, but the nastiest (intermittent, goes away for a while with new drivers then returns a month later) problems have been with Dual Processor systems (supermicro motherboards) and Intel chipsets.

The SiS 730s / Athlon systems I've been using since last December have been completely trouble free. We've started picking up some systems using this chipset at work for student use (these are grad students using the system for statistical analysis) and they've been 100% perfect.
