1. I too favor canning spinco for the following less lofty reasons: --it will save time because no need to pay attention to the Spinco thread any more. --save headaches of doing the taxes and calculating the basis in the shares that would be spun out. 2. That QCOM is hated by others in the industry makes no difference to me. I can think of others who dominated their segments who were/are disliked: IBM in the 70s and early 80s, MSFT and CSCO in the 90s and to a lesser extent now, etc.
