"Providing a time where those who wish can pray and others can read or meditate or twiddel their thumbs tells no-one they are right or wrong. They have the opportunity or not"

You're a man who says he needs data... So what data can you provide that shows that public prayer has any value for those doing the praying or the people forced to listen.... How does public prayer differ from private prayer?

I believe the constitution calls for separation of church and state. Thus it would be wise to keep Christianity out of our public schools. That is the intent of prayer in schools isn't it, to get everyone to become a Christian submitting to peer pressure. As for the existence of God this is also a personal matter.

It would be best if parents trained their children to pray of their own time privately. Besides forcing non believers to twiddle when they should be being taught is robbing them of valuable learning time so others can have privileged minutes for religion in the classroom.

It is a bad idea and smacks of Hitlerism deciding what is good for all to believe!
