Sure - methane of course is a highly potent though reactive greenhouse gas. A renewable resource is fine but it can't be a sink at the same time. I think CO2 injection is fine the issue is the rate of adding CO2 to the atmosphere.

Methane hydrides are a big unknown in the climate story as is methane locked in the permafrost. The trouble is that there is a positive feedback. If that methane gets into the atmosphere it will strip out most of the OH which normally removes methane and it's lifetime of 11 years will be extended leading into an increasing and sudden warming....

It is also blamed for the Bermuda Triangle and other sudden losses of ships and aircraft....

I don't think we are going to be short of carbon dioxide for plants to photosynthesize with!
