Jay,
many of these VCD's are not made from masters, but digitally recorded by projectionist and accomplices as soon as the reels are received by movie houses. Many times digital video cameras are set up in the house before the show is ever shown to the public, audio dubbed directly from the audio track. this is particularly practiced in Singapore. others are copied directly from a master by confederates here and elsewhere. one copy can be reproduced on multi-recording machines rather quickly. many movies are available on the net as soon as they are released. recently a show on TV (can;t remember which one) showed 4 high school friends and how it was done.
