Gun de-regulation will just be part of the overall de-regulation plans. More guns, less crime or an armed society is a polite society. Maybe he will stress the 1st Amendment rights of the free press to keep everyone happy. People will not buy more guns because they are faced with less regulations, but they will buy more guns if they are faced with regulations like registration and licensing that tell them their rights are in danger. It's the same mentality that causes people to fill their tank in advance of a gas shortage. And the NRA became considerably larger and richer because of this same mentality.

I'm not sure that this country's "cowboy mentality" will be reversed in my lifetime. We have raised generations of people on the concept that the ultimate way to settle a dispute in the USA is through the use of gun violence. It is my opinion that we need much more gun regulation in this country, not less. It also is discouraging to read that GWB doesn't have the backbone to stand up to the NRA.
