Re:"How would using AMD jeopardize the Dell's direct model?"

Using AMD results in unreliable systems. It is very expensive for an OEM to service a system in the field. The one big requirement of Dell is that they want to "ship and forget", failures kill the profits. It also makes for happy customers.

Of course when you just throw out some flaky parts for the overclockers to play with, reliability is not a problem.

When you're on top and gaining, you do status quo. As for any special Dell/Intel incentives, I have never seen any proof of that, have you?>

>>Yes I have.

How would using AMD jeopardize the Dell's direct model?

As is said in sports, and applies here very well, you don't break up a winning combination. Dell is pounding the pi** out of everyone else in the PC market, and, lately, in lower end servers as well. You don't change anything major when something like that is occuring.

Can you somehow show the Dell - Intel "deal" that gets Dell lower prices?
