Re: What is the driving force to validate Clawhammer?

An installed base of 50 million X86-64 systems by 2003.

At which point there will be a few hundred thousand Itanics sinking slowly into a sea of irrelevance. After they settle on the bottom, they will find plenty of company in the form of MIPS, Alpha, i860, and other niche chips that tried to get the mountain of IBM PC compatible software to come to them.

Oh..that's obvious ... it will be CHEAP - about $129

Oh yeah, cheap... that's really pushed AMD into the corporate arena so far... ;-)

At $129/die how much is AMD going to make/lose on an SOI chip???
